18 Years of Marriage and Counting

This Monday, April 14th (Pete Rose's birthday) was Lisa and my 18th anniversary.

I am right on the edge of being married half my life (I'm 39). I have been with Lisa over half my life (since I was 19).

The funny thing is it's been a fast 18 years but I can't hardly remember a time we weren't together. So for the 3 people who occasionally read this blog out of boredom here is my anniversary thoughts...

1. I don't get people who choose divorce. I'm talking about the 'out of love' or 'irreconcilable' stuff.
I cannot imagine wanting to date!

2. We've been through a lot together. There have been times we were so poor we didn't have
'a pit to hiss in' (as one old guy used to put it). We've had health worries with our kids at one point or another. We've had a lot of hurt and worry that comes from being in the ministry.
Yet in all of it being married was a constant strength.

3. She could have done much better than me.

4. In most ways I hope our children have her approach to life.

5. I think she is so used to me that she'll keep me!
